Med Synchronization

Do you ever find it difficult to keep up with your medication refills and picking up your medications? If you answered yes, you may benefit from medication synchronization.

What is Medication Synchronization?

  • Medication synchronization is when the pharmacist coordinates the refill of your medications so you can pick them up on a single day each month. Many people miss doses of their regular medications and med sync can make you more likely to take them.
  • Medication synchronization (med sync) allows patients to synchronize their medications in order to receive them on the same day, on a monthly basis, instead of making multiple visits to the pharmacy.

How Can Med Sync Benefit Your Health?

  • Peace of Mind: Your likelihood of missing doses because you forgot to refill your prescription decreases dramatically. Your pharmacy is responsible for proactively coordinating when your prescription needs to be refilled.
  • Convenience: You will pick up all of your medications in one trip to the pharmacy per month. This will eliminate the need for you to make time in your busy schedule for multiple refill calls and visits to the pharmacy.
  • Improved medication management: You will develop a closer relationship with your pharmacist during your monthly pick-up, leading to a better understanding of how your medication therapy works and how you can avoid side effects.

How does Med Sync Work?

  • Pharmacists at Gateway Pharmacy review the patient’s prescriptions list to formulate a plan for synchronization.
  • The pharmacist then performs partial or short fills to synchronize to the determined recurring date. When appropriate, the pharmacist also schedules an appointment with the patient each month to discuss medications, related side effects, and any other health-related issues.
  • Patient picks up all prescriptions in one visit.
